The Importance of Inclusion

Earlier this year, the United Nations convened the Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan to negotiate a new global framework for disaster risk reduction. Particular emphasis was paid to the needs and contributions of disabled persons. In particular, the needs of disabled persons must be taken into consideration to ensure that evacuation facilities are accessible and that medical and other personal needs of disabled persons are addressed in emergency planning. Today, the third of December, is the day that the UN recognizes as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon specifically stressed the needs of disabled persons in disaster-related emergencies. Do you know if you have any disabled persons among your employees?
