Tennessee experienced a 1-in-500 year flood event, devastating a good part of the state, including Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry. Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland experienced major floods this year. China’s floods required massive mobilization of public resources. India is underwater and Pakistan’s flooding represents a humanitarian crisis with the very real threat of cholera and other water-borne illnesses.
